June 9, 2011: AI Yatzy 2.1.0 Released

The past few weeks have seen more than 1000 downloads of AI Yatzy. In this time, I have released several new versions, to address requests made by users.

Version 2.0 introduced the possibility to navigate between score sheets of the other players of the game, including AI Yatzy. This feature was greatly appreciated by users.

Today, to address some confusion among users about the dice rolls in Challenge mode, I have released version 2.1.0. AI Yatzy used to play with the same dice as the player it was challenging (same outcome when rolling a specific die at each stage of the game). This is intended to favor strategy over luck. In version 2.1.0, the player has the choice to use this playing mode, or to roll the dice independently of AI Yatzy. The latter mode is consequently dominated by chance, making it less interesting whether the player or the AI wins. Nevertheless, this is what people expect when playing against an opponent, which is why this has been made the default choice.

May 20, 2011: AI Yatzy Released!

I am very happy to announce the release of AI Yatzy, an Android app for playing the dice game Yatzy, which contains an engine for optimal play, to challenge or support the players.
AI Yatzy is available on Android Market.
